About MeI am currently a junior, pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering at Mercer. I have spent a significant amount of time as an undergraduate working on independent engineering projects;
most notably I am the project lead on a high altitude research capsule. This vehicle flies up to 19 miles into the upper atmosphere attached to a weather balloon, to provide space like conditions for science and engineering experiments. I presented this project at the 2014 American Society for Engineering Education conference, and my team and I were honored with the first place best project presentation award. In addition to this independent work, I have also participated in undergraduate research with Mercer’s Machine Intelligence Robotics Laboratory to develop novel mechanical solutions for problems in laser cutting and rapid prototyping. Last summer I studied abroad in Uganda as part of the Mercer on Mission international service program. While in country, I worked with university professors on the design, construction, and installation of pumps to provide water for underserved communities. The summer before, I was employed as an engineering intern at Nypro, where I worked independently to investigate failures in, and recommend improvements to, the mold upgrade process. In addition I was tasked with diagnosing specific failure modes in medical device assembly and production. |
